Buy a crossover or SUV in Ukraine – listings in the Imperiya Auto catalogue
The SUV category in the catalogue of our Imperiya Auto platform brings together hundreds of current listings for crossovers and off-roaders across Ukraine. Here you will find both compact urban models and powerful all-wheel-drive options for rough terrain. To buy a crossover that matches your needs quickly, use the convenient filters. Set your budget and model year, choose the drivetrain and gearbox type, and narrow the search by region. The system will automatically select the best new or used crossovers among the available offers.
Buying an SUV or a crossover: what the difference is and what to choose
Many buyers do not grasp the fundamental difference between these two types of car, although it is substantial. Crossovers are cars built on a passenger-car platform, with the priority on comfort in town and on the motorway. A crossover has enough ground clearance for Ukrainian roads but is not intended for serious off-roading. An SUV is worth buying for journeys over difficult terrain. It often has body-on-frame construction, robust suspension and a transmission designed for demanding conditions. If you need a car for daily city driving, occasional trips into the countryside and comfortable motorway travel, a crossover is the one to buy. For regular trips to hard-to-reach places, hunting, fishing or living out of town, an SUV is the better fit.
For the city and everyday driving
If you need the car primarily for the city, pay attention to its dimensions. A compact SUV in Ukraine is easier to park and to manoeuvre in traffic. Fuel consumption becomes an important factor with daily use, so it is worth considering economical diesel crossovers or hybrid versions. An automatic gearbox or a CVT makes driving in urban traffic far simpler, especially if you often sit in jams.
For the family and travel
A crossover for a family should be chosen with cabin space in mind. Check whether three adults will sit comfortably in the rear row. The boot capacity has to be enough for suitcases, children's gear and all the things that inevitably come with family trips. Safety systems (from the number of airbags to the driver assistance on offer) matter especially when there are children on board. Ground clearance of 180-200 mm gives confidence on broken roads and on trips to the country or to grandma's village.

For winter, poor roads and 4x4
All-wheel drive is not just a marketing gimmick but real help in winter and on poor Ukrainian roads. Check whether the crossover has permanent all-wheel drive or an on-demand system with a clutch. The car's behaviour in critical situations depends on it. Good winter tyres and long-travel suspension will help you cope with snow, ice and rutted surfaces. Protection for the engine sump and other underbody components is essential for anyone who regularly drives poor roads or across fields.
How to buy a used crossover in 7 steps
Choosing a car becomes simpler if you act consistently and systematically. If you want to buy an SUV or a crossover, use this proven algorithm. It will keep you from getting lost among hundreds of offers: 1. Set your budget. Assess realistically how much you are prepared to spend now, plus allow 10-15 % for unforeseen costs after the purchase. This will filter out irrelevant options straight away. 2. Choose the model year and mileage. Cars from 2018-2020 often offer the optimal balance of price and condition. Up to 100,000-120,000 km for petrol and up to 150,000-180,000 km for diesels is considered acceptable. 3. Decide on the body style and size. You can buy a compact crossover (up to 4.5 m), a mid-size one (4.5-4.8 m) or a large one (over 4.8 m). It depends on how much capacity you need and how easily you want to park. 4. Drivetrain. On sale you will find cars with front-wheel drive (more economical and simple to maintain) and all-wheel drive (for winter and rough terrain, but more expensive to repair). 5. Engine and fuel type. A petrol crossover costs less to buy, but a diesel is more economical on long journeys. A hybrid is a compromise, though technically more complex. 6. Gearbox. A manual crossover is reliable and cheap. An automatic is comfortable but needs regular oil changes. A CVT delivers smoothness but can become troublesome past 150,000 km. 7. Checking condition and history. Always obtain a VIN report, have the car inspected at a garage and take a test drive. If you want to buy a crossover or an SUV, note the typical mistakes buyers make. We strongly advise against buying a 4x4 crossover without inspecting the transmission and the all-wheel-drive clutch. Repairs can cost 30-50 % of the car's value. Nor is it wise to choose a car priced well below the average for crossovers in Ukraine unless you are ready to invest in repairs. These are often cars that have been in serious accidents or have other problems.
How to find the used crossover or SUV you need in the catalogue: filters and scenarios
Using the filters properly cuts search time many times over. Instead of scrolling through hundreds of listings you get a shortlist of 10-30 relevant options that genuinely match your criteria. The filters with the greatest effect on the result are: 1. Make, model and generation. If you know exactly what you are looking for, select the specific model immediately. This will shorten the list by a factor of 5-10. 2. Model year (from/to). Set the range according to your budget. Cars over 10 years old usually already need serious investment in repairs. 3. Gearbox. Automatic or manual is a fundamental difference in price and comfort. An automatic crossover will cost 10-20 % more than the manual equivalent. 4. Engine and fuel type. Petrol, diesel, hybrid, LPG – each option has its own running-cost profile. 5. Region. Look for a car in your own region, and better still in your own city, since you will need to inspect a used car in person. Sort through the listings on our service right now. You will quickly find the best option for you with minimum effort spent on the search.
